Montana, Bans Use Of TikTok

After Montana Governor Greg Jane Forte signed a measure outlawing the Chinese app TikTok, Montana became the first state in the US to do so.

According to US media sources, the TikTok app will no longer be accessible on Montana’s Google Play and Apple App Stores. The restriction shall take effect on January 1, 2024.

According to Republican Montana Governor Greg Jean Forte, “this bill will further advance our shared priority of protecting Montana’s citizens from the Chinese Communist Party’s surveillance.”

However, the business that owns TikTok, “ByteDance,” claimed in a statement that this measure, by forcibly outlawing TikTok, violates the First Amendment and the rights of the people of Montana. The business declared that it will protect the interests of its clients both inside and outside of Montana.
